About
I completed my specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Cambridge University and West Suffolk hospitals in East Anglia 1999. In 2003, whilst working as a consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, I took a career break to look after my family. Returning to gynaecology in 2014, I developed a special interest in life-style medicine, reproductive and post-reproductive health.
Life events, relationships, circumstances, genetics all impact our biology, our values and the way we view the World. So, when treating patients, I like to take the long-view and develop context in which
to make a diagnosis and a personalised management plan. Whenever possible, as a basic level of care, I encourage life-style adaptions which are not too onerous or complicated to improve health span and alleviate symptoms. Blood tests, scanning and prescription treatments may also be required but all health care works best when good self-care, good understanding and a good relationship with your doctor come together. This is my philosophy.
Medical expertise
In addition to my gynaecological practice, I do weekly sexual health clinics for Cambridge Community NHS Trust, where I treat infectious and non-infectious sexual health conditions in both men and women. I established the first psychosexual group in Cambridge and have the Diploma in Psychosexual Medicine. I have just finished working in a 2-year, award winning, psychosexual pilot study in Cambridge.
