What are hot flushes?
Hot flushes are sudden waves of heat that spread through your body, often starting in the chest and face. They can cause redness, sweating, and an uncomfortable sense of overheating. These episodes may also be followed by chills. The exact description varies from woman to woman.
Many women experience hot flushes multiple times a day, and they can be particularly disruptive at night, impacting sleep. Hormonal changes, specifically fluctuating oestrogen levels, play a major role in triggering this symptom.
