Dr Karen Aitken
“I understand how trying to maximise our healthiest potential at a time in our lives when we are juggling work, ageing relatives and young children can be hard. I believe that with the right advice and treatment, this stage of life can be made so much easier to manage.”

About
Having graduated with a degree in Physiology incorporating psychology and sports science, I became very interested in women’s health. I completed my medicine degree from the University of Glasgow in 1999 then moved into general practice, taking the MRCGP exam at that time.
Medical expertise
I have worked in women’s health specifically for 18 years. I love teaching and passing on my passion for women’s health as an honorary clinical lecturer at Glasgow University.

Karen outside of work
“Always loved sport and lucky enough to have represented Scotland a few times in masters badminton in mixed doubles. Travelling and socialising with friends and family makes me happy and of course, walking our little lab pup along the beach!”
