What are night sweats?
Night sweats are intense episodes of sweating during sleep, often causing soaked sheets, drenched pyjamas and very disrupted rest. Sometimes they can be so severe they resemble a panic attack, and often leave women feeling chilly once the sweating episode has ended.
Night sweats are caused by the same hormonal changes that trigger hot flushes and are part of the body's response to fluctuating oestrogen levels.
