Combined HRT Treatment for women

Combined HRT contains both oestrogen and progestogen in a single treatment. This can come in the form of patches or tablets. Combined HRT has been designed for women who still have a womb, as the progestogen component protects the lining of the uterus from thickening due to oestrogen.

Benefits of Combined HRT

Combined patches are a convenient method of taking HRT, for women who have a womb and need both oestrogen and progestogen. The benefits of choosing a combined treatment can include:

  • If you prefer a low-maintenance form of HRT, as you only take one type of medication.

Combined patches can be a good choice for women who:

  • Are at higher risk of blood clots, as patches bypass the liver
  • Struggle with tablet side effects . Patches also tend to have reduced side effects than oral HRT as the hormones are absorbed directly into the bloodstream.
